With an ageing UK population, caring for an adult dependant is a responsibility faced by a growing number of people
Of course many don't think of themselves as a 'working carer' at all - until a care breakdown takes place. When it does, it can be traumatic, complex and time consuming for all involved.
Be prepared for life's little emergencies
Backup Adult & Eldercare allows you to book domiciliary care across the UK for an adult dependant, or even yourself.
The service is facilitated by fully regulated regional care agencies.
- Request care quickly and easily online
- We will assist you with arranging a home assessment.
The service is facilitated by fully regulated regional care agencies. Read more about home carers, registration and home assessments.
Typically the minimum booking time is 30 minutes.
We're happy to speak to you and discuss your needs
Adult and eldercare needs can be complex and challenging, and what you are going through might be more common than you think. So the first time you want to arrange some care, it may help to talk to us first. We'll source a suitable homecare provider based on what you tell us.
Please get in touch with our team on 0345 241 5306 or fis@myfamilycare.co.uk to discuss your or your dependant's needs.
We're available 7:30am to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Using your subsidy
As an employee of FIS you may use up to 5 days per year (for each child / dependant), (renewing each January). The days can be used across Emergency Childcare, School Holiday Cover and Backup Adult & Eldercare.
The FIS contribution to your care costs will clearly be shown on the final booking step.
To make use of the subsidy, you must book care through the website and not directly with a care provider.
When can the service be used?
You can use this useful service for just about anything, from looking after an elderly relative when you can't be there, to providing much-needed support for yourself after an injury.
A few situations where working carers use us:
- An elderly relative needs post-operative care
- You've started a new job and have less time to provide care
- You're recuperating from an operation
- Managing a relative's transition from their home to a care home
- You're living a long way from your dependant
Whatever the reason, our care agencies can provide suitably trained home carers to help take the pressure off when it counts most.
